Case Study: iPhone App Licensing
L.L.Bean, one of Maine's premiere businesses and a major on-line retailer wanted to explore the lucrative new frontier of mobile marketing. For their first dip into these waters they desired an iPhone application that, instead of using a hard-sell approach, allowed them to interact with and engage their customers in a new and different way.
Our Moosentration property seemed like a good fit considering the game's theme tied in nicely with L.L.Bean's outdoor brand-image.
L.L.Bean requested some changes to the look-and-feel of the game, some gameplay enhancements, and a rebranding of the game with L.L.Bean's logo and colors. We happily made the requested changes and licensed the game for them to distribute freely on the iTunes App Store.
The launch of the rebranded game was accompanied by an email campaign and supported by a new Flash-based version of Moosentration that was developed by Blue Ox and was made available on the L.L.Bean website.
Moosentration has been a win-win for L.L.Bean and Blue Ox, and a story about this unique venture was featured on the front page of the July 31, 2009 edition of the Portland Press Herald.
